Mexican Chef Rodrigo Martinez attended culinary school and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Gastronomy in 2009. As a young cook he started his career in multiple fine dining restaurants all over Mexico City as well as renowned hotel brands including the Four Seasons hotel Mexico City. He worked at The Gaylord Texan resort in Dallas, Texas for 2 years previous to his immigration to Canada. During his 9 years in Saskatoon, Rodrigo has had the pleasure to work along with many accomplished local chefs including Chef Richard Smith, Mano’s; Chef Scott Togerson, Delta Saskatoon; and Chef Lee Hellman, Truffles Bistro. Rodrigo is currently the Executive Chef at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel and he continues to grow his career putting an emphasis on his visionary and coaching leadership to enhance the lives of all those who come and work with him. Rodrigo believes in giving the new generation of hospitality industry professionals the opportunity to be heard and taken into account as they learn from experienced industry professionals “if they can propose a better way to do things, why not give them the chance to take a leap”. One of the most satisfying aspects of his life in Canada is that he can enjoy the “life on the line” and share his passion for great culinary experiences with cooks from different backgrounds and ages.
